Belmont Station Design

This unbuilt proposal for Chicago’s Belmont Station seeks to improve safety and comfort for pedestrians and waiting passengers with a simple modular shelter system. The first move is to extend the area of shelter on the island site and partially enclose it with a living screen to moderate the elements and traffic pollution. Surface treatments act as implicit wayfinding prompts and angled glass screens act as windbreaks while deflecting engine noise.
