Moscow Kievskaya Station Canopy System

Kievskaya Station is an historic transit hub station in Moscow and its improvement is a key part of mayor Sergey Sobyanin’s city-wide programme of works. Billings Jackson worked in collaboration with the Department of Transport to design a canopy system to protect pedestrians from the elements when switching mode of transport, approaching the station or travelling onward.

The minimal linear canopy is animated by lines of light, inspired by contours, which can be adjusted from warm to cooler tones. Billings Jackson also made furniture design proposals to provide further shelter and amenity.
