Moscow Metro Retail Kiosk

Billings Jackson has designed two kiosk systems for Moscow Department of Transport, one of which is an information and promotion stand for the metro itself and one of which is a generic retail kiosk to be let to tenants throughout the estate.

A particular challenge in the design of the multi-use kiosk was the likely locations for the retail outlets. These were often to be the semi-enclosed underpasses connecting metro ticket halls to various street-level entrances. As well as the difficulty of maintaining comfort for staff and customers in the occasionally harsh Moscow climate, these underpasses tend to slope for drainage purposes, creating complex ground fixing and finishing conditions.
