MTA Station Improvement Metro North
Billings Jackson was sub-contracted to Halmar International design-build contractors responsible for delivering six stations within the Metro-North Modernization Program, a multi-million dollar investment in the regional transportation infrastructure. The design team, comprised of Arup, Sowinski Sullivan Architects and Billings Jackson Design, transformed stations into more inviting, comfortable and appealing places.
Billings Jackson designed various station amenities aimed at improving the customer experience. New information totems with dynamic real-time information were installed at each station entrance to help customers make informed decisions prior to entering the system. New benches and counters with integrated USB charging ports have been included in the waiting areas, as well as new LCD information displays. These improvements, as well as remedial work to station structures, helps to bring the stations into the 21st century.
