MTA Station Improvement Project Package 3
The station improvement program (formerly the Enhanced Station Initiative) is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s $72 million modernization project to improve more than 30 subway stations throughout New York.
Package 2 includes 72 Street, 86 Street, Cathedral Parkway and 163 Street stations. Billings Jackson was industrial design subcontractor to ECCO and Hardesty & Hanover, responsible for the detailed design of station entrance totems, integrated lighting wireways, benches, lean bars, trash receptacles, and platform dashboards. The updates enhance the transit experience with new technological features alongside artworks commissioned by MTA Arts & Design.
