Salamanca Chair

This chair was designed for the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca. The brief called for a stackable café chair to homogenise the look of the various cafes on the square, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cast aluminium parts were given a shaded anodized finish and Spanish Oak was chosen for all the tactile surfaces in recognition of the heat of the city for much of the year. The choice of materials ensured that the chairs remained fairly light and so could be stacked easily while having a long lasting robustness and acquiring a pleasant patina over time.
